Hwang, offense come to play but River Cats drop game three

West Sacramento, CA
– The Sacramento River Cats (6-12) jumped out to an early lead Monday night against the Las Vegas 51s (10-9) but couldn’t sustain the early momentum in their 7-6 loss.

The River Cats’ bats came alive in the second inning against 51s starter Tyler Pill, pushing five runs across on five hits. Starter Tyler Beede did his part through his first four innings, holding the 51s scoreless while allowing just four hits. The trouble started for Beede in the fifth the however, as Las Vegas saw the River Cats five runs and matched them with five of their own, three of which were earned.

After the River Cats scored another run in the seventh to retake the lead thanks to a Jae-Gyun Hwang RBI single, the 51s put up a run in the eighth and ninth innings to claim the lead for good.

Game four tomorrow afternoon will feature River Cats right-hander Joan Gregorio (0-2, 2.93) up against 51s right-hander Wilfredo Boscan (0-1, 3.75). First pitch is set for 12:05 pm (PT) and the game can be heard live online at rivercats.com and on the air on ESPN 1320.
