Jake Owen’s “Life’s Whatcha Make It Tour 2018” With Rising Star Jordan Davis To Make Tour Stop At Raley Field

Tickets on sale starting Friday, March 2, new music from Owen available February 28

West Sacramento, CA – Blue Cap Entertainment in conjunction with Raley Field and the Sacramento River Cats announced today that Big Loud recording artist Jake Owen’s “Life’s Whatcha Make It Tour 2018,” will be making a tour stop to perform at Raley Field on September 14, 2018. Tickets will go on sale starting Friday, March 2 at 10:00 a.m.

“I really do believe that life’s whatcha make it,” says Owen. “If you wake up feeling positive, there’s a pretty good chance that you’ll see things throughout the day in a positive light. I think concerts are like that: it’s what you make it. People show up to have a good time and the artists on stage feel that too. A lot of my songs over the years have pointed to that idea. The fact that we’re playing baseball parks on Friday and Saturday nights throughout the summer, when people are ready to get out, have a good time, and don’t have to work the next day, is really cool. And, I’m so pumped to have Jordan Davis on the bill with me. It’s going to be an awesome tour. I’m fired up!”

Owen has partnered with CID Entertainment to offer three levels of VIP Ticket Packages on tour. VIP Ticket Packages include a premium concert ticket and exclusive VIP merchandise. Fans can also opt-in to join Jake before the show for a ‘Good Company’ experience where he’ll perform two acoustic songs. Details on the Jake Owen VIP package can be found HERE.

In addition, Owen has been in the recording studio working with award-winning producer Joey Moi, who produced Jake’s biggest hits to date: “Barefoot Blue Jean Night,” “Alone With You, and “Beachin,’” to name a few. New music from Owen will be available on Wednesday, February 28, details coming soon.

Tickets for this concert can be purchased starting at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 2, 2018 by visiting www.rivercats.com, calling (800) 745-3000, or in person starting at noon on Sunday, March 4 at the Raley Field Box Office.

Sacramento Republic FC Falls To Los Angeles FC 1-0

MLS side LAFC defeat Sacramento Republic FC 1-0 in preseason friendly at Papa Murphy’s Park.

Sacramento Republic FC and Los Angeles Football Club both came out attacking and feeling each other out. Republic FC saw its first real scoring chance in the 13th minute when Wilson Kneeshaw attacked up the right side. Kneeshaw got all the way to the touchline before slicing a cross into the box. The cross was deflected by the defense and bounced to the near post where Hayden Partain had been making a run. Partain flung his body at the ball, trying to redirect it into the net, but the ball took a hard bounce and it was cleared away from danger.

Republic FC had another strong chance in the 25th minute when Christian Eissele and Cameron Iwasa nearly linked up for a spectacular goal. Eissele laid off a long ball to a streaking Iwasa just outside the box. Iwasa wasted no time volleying a shot through LAFC’s defense, but it was just wide of the goal. The two would link up again in the 31st minute, but Eissele’s shot was saved by LAFC keeper Tyler Miller.

LAFC did not see many chances in the first half, but Marcos Ureña nearly put LAFC ahead in the 31st minute. The forward found open space in the box and the ball crossed to his feet. He tried to beat Republic FC keeper Josh Cohen to the far post, but his shot went just wide and out of play. The match would remain scoreless through halftime.

The visitors had a bevy of chances early in the second half as they had four consecutive shots in the 53rd minute. LAFC put five men in the box and had every one of their shots either blocked by Cohen or deflected by a Republic FC defender. The home side was able to withstand the 20-second flurry and ultimately clear the ball away.

LAFC would finally break through in the 60th minute with a goal from João Moutinho. The MLS side capitalized on extended offensive pressure to start the second half, as Moutinho beat the defense and received a pass from Carlos Vela. Moutinho promptly beat Cohen with a well-placed far-post strike for the goal.

Cohen kept Republic FC within striking distance with an excellent diving save in the 68th minute. Marcos Ureña again was open in the box and again Cohen was able to block away his shot. Rafa Diaz, who came on for Cohen late in the second half, also made a key stop in the 83rd minute. Despite the best efforts of the home side to equalize, the match ended in a 1-0 victory for LAFC.

“They have good players and they move the ball well,” said Republic FC Head Coach Simon Elliott of LAFC. “We always try to do our homework before games. I thought our defending deeper was decent and I thought we could have done better defending higher.”

Republic FC will continue their 2017 preseason when they take on USL newcomers Fresno FC in a friendly match on Sunday, Mar. 4.  Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Stanislaus State University.

Sacramento River Cats Join National Event Series As Part Of MiLB’s Hispanic Fan Engagement Initiative

Inaugural Copa de la Diversión celebrates MiLB communities’ fun-loving, multi-cultural fans

West Sacramento, CA – Minor League Baseball® (MiLB™) today announced the launch of Copa de la Diversión, or “Fun Cup,” a season-long event series specifically designed to embrace the culture and values that resonate most with participating teams’ local U.S. Hispanic/Latino communities.

“We are honored to be a part of this national initiative, and look forward to this opportunity to further create a fun-filled environment for the exceptionally diverse Sacramento region,” said Chip Maxson, General Manager of the Sacramento River Cats. “Raley Field has always been a welcoming place for family-fun and memories, and we cannot wait to unveil our plans to build on that through the Copa de la Diversión.

Based on the successful launch of its national “It’s Fun to Be a Fan” (and corresponding Spanish-language “Es Divertido Ser Un Fan”) marketing campaign in 2017, participating teams will bolster their marketing and customer service efforts this season to create a culturally-relevant gameday experience through music, concessions and promotions.

The 160-game event series begins on April 8, in Round Rock, Texas. To build awareness and create excitement for the new national series, a 3-foot tall Copa de la Diversión trophy will embark on a tour of the participating cities, as part of a “Gira de la Copa” (“Cup Tour”).

To distinctively launch this new initiative, and visually celebrate the diversity that defines MiLB communities nationwide, MiLB and each participating team will create culturally-relevant on-field personas that honor the local U.S. Hispanic/Latino communities. The Copa de la Diversión team identities will be unveiled on March 20.

Last season, three MiLB teams adopted new alternate on-field monikers to reflect their unique and diverse fan bases: Charlotte Knights (to “Caballeros,” its Spanish-language equivalent), Las Vegas 51s (to Reyes de Plata, or “Silver Kings,” a nod to the city’s mining heritage), and Visalia Rawhide (to “Toros,” in honor of the region’s dairy industry).

After the conclusion of the season, each participating team will auction its Copa de la Diversión branded game-used caps and jerseys and donate the proceeds to a U.S. Hispanic/Latino-focused organization in its community.

The participating teams for the 2018 campaign, spanning 19 states from coast-to-coast include: Albuquerque Isotopes, Bowie Baysox, Brooklyn Cyclones, Charlotte Knights, Corpus Christi Hooks, Daytona Tortugas, Durham Bulls, El Paso Chihuahuas, Eugene Emeralds, Everett AquaSox, Greenville Drive, Hartford Yard Goats, Hillsboro Hops, Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino, Kane County Cougars, Kannapolis Intimidators, Lake Elsinore Storm, Las Vegas 51s, Lehigh Valley IronPigs, Memphis Redbirds, Oklahoma City Dodgers, Omaha Storm Chasers, Pawtucket Red Sox, Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, Round Rock Express, Sacramento River Cats, Salt Lake Bees, San Antonio Missions, San Jose Giants, Stockton Ports, Tulsa Drillers, Visalia Rawhide and Winston-Salem Dash.

“Minor League Baseball is built on the fun, memory-making experiences created by our teams each and every day,” said Kurt Hunzeker, Minor League Baseball’s Vice President of Marketing Strategy and Research. “When we introduced ‘It’s Fun to Be a Fan’ and ‘Es Divertido Ser Un Fan’ last season, the overwhelmingly positive response led us to create this season-long event series, further showcasing our teams’ commitment to their communities and MiLB’s unique brand of fun.”
