Reed’s walk scores Gerber for first run in Las Vegas Ballpark history
Summerlin, Nev. — Though the Sacramento River Cats (4-2) were able to plate the first run in the new stadium’s history, the Las Vegas Aviators (5-1) would brave the wind for a 10-2 victory at Las Vegas Ballpark’s grand opening.
Sacramento loaded the bases in the first inning and scored first thanks to outfielder Michael Reed’s walk, but Aviators right-handers Chris Bassitt and Daniel Mengden would limit the River Cats to just two hits the rest of the game. Mengden, in particular, was dominant with six one-hit innings and nine strikeouts.
River Cats right-hander Tyler Beede (0-0, 0.00) will be back on the mound looking to build off his impressive start last Friday night when he struck out eight in four scoreless innings. The Aviators are scheduled to send righty Jake Buchanan to the hill. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. (PT).
