Oakland Raiders Sign WR De’Mornay Pierson-El

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed free agent WR De’Mornay Pierson-El, the club announced Monday.

Pierson-El enters his first season with the Raiders, having most recently been with the Salt Lake Stallions in the American Alliance Football league. Before joining the AAF, Pierson-El spent time with the Washington Redskins after being signed by the club as an undrafted free agent following the 2018 NFL Draft, and also had a short stint with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League

In his short stint with the Stallions, the 5-foot-9, 195-pound wide receiver recorded 36 receptions for 414 yards (11.5 avg.) and one touchdown. Pierson-El’s receptions and receiving yards both led the team through eight contests. 

A native of Alexandria, Va., Pierson-El played four seasons (2014-17) at Nebraska. He appeared in 43 games and recorded 100 receptions for 1,309 yards (13.1 avg.) and added 11 touchdown receptions, while also rushing 26 times for 67 yards. As a senior in 2014, Pierson-El recorded career highs across the board, tallying 45 receptions for 623 yards and five touchdown receptions. His receptions and receiving yards both finished third on the team while his five receiving scores ranked second.

Oakland Raiders Retain LS Trent Sieg

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have re-signed exclusive rights free agent LS Trent Sieg, the club announced Wednesday.

Signed to the club ahead of the Raiders’ Week 2 contest last season, Sieg appeared and snapped in the final 15 contests, assisting K Daniel Carlson in setting a new franchise record with a 94.1 field goal percentage on the year. Sieg also helped Carlson earn AFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors after snapping on the game-winning field goal in Week 11 against the Arizona Cardinals. Sieg originally signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent following the conclusion of the 2018 NFL Draft.

A native of Eaton, Colo., Sieg was a four-year player at Colorado State. The 6-foot-3, 240-pound long snapper appeared in 52 games for the Rams without missing a snap.

Oakland Raiders Retain LB Jason Cabinda and Sign G Chaz Green

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have re-signed exclusive rights free agent LB Jason Cabinda and signed unrestricted free agent G Chaz Green, the club announced Friday.

Cabinda, a 6-foot-1, 243-pound linebacker signed by the club as an undrafted free agent following the 2018 NFL Draft, spent the first six contests of 2018 on the team’s practice squad before being elevated to the active roster on Oct. 18. He appeared in 10 contests and made three starts, tallying 21 tackles (14 solo) in his rookie campaign.

A native of Flemington, N.J., Cabinda played four years for at Penn State, seeing action in 43 games with 36 starts. Cabinda finished his career with the Nittany Lions ranked ninth on the school’s all-time list with 286 tackles (115 solo), adding six career sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, 11 passes defensed and one interception.

Green, a 6-foot-5, 318-pound guard and former third-round selection (91st overall) by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2015 NFL Draft, joined the Raiders in the middle of the 2018 campaign and appeared in four contests while making one start. Over his four seasons with the Dallas Cowboys (2015-17), New Orleans Saints (2018) and Raiders, Green has appeared in 22 contests and made seven starts.

A native Tampa, Fla., Green spent five years (2010-14) at Florida and appeared in 43 contests. As a senior, Green was voted a team captain by his peers and started in all 11 contests for the Gators.

Oakland Raiders Sign K Matt McCrane; Place K Mike Nugent on IR

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed free agent K Matt McCrane, the club announced Wednesday.

McCrane, a 5-foot-10, 165-pound rookie kicker, enters his first season in the NFL after signing with the Arizona Cardinals as an undrafted free agent following the conclusion of the 2018 NFL Draft. McCrane connected on all four of his field goal attempts in preseason action, including makes from 53- and 54-yards out, while also being true on all three PATs.

A native of Brownwood, Texas, McCrane was a three-time All-Big 12 performer at Kansas State, becoming the first kicker in school history with three all-conference honors. Over his four-year career, he made 57-of-66 field goal (88.4 percent) attempts and connected on 133-of-134 PATs. His 88.4 percent career average ranks second in Big 12 history and sixth in NCAA lore. McCrane’s 304 career points placed him as the Wildcat’s all-time scoring leader.

In a corresponding move, the Raiders have placed K Mike Nugent on the Reserve/Injured List.

Oakland Raiders Sign Fourth-Round Pick CB Nick Nelson

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed fourth-round draft pick CB Nick Nelson, the club announced Monday.

Nelson was selected 110th overall by the Raiders in the 2018 NFL Draft. He spent two seasons at Hawaii before playing one year at Wisconsin, appearing in 37 games collectively. He totaled 124 tackles (95 solo), 42 passes defensed, one sack and two forced fumbles over his career. Nelson was named second-team All-American by CBS and first-team All-Big Ten in 2017 and earned All-Mountain West Honorable Mention recognition in 2015.

In 2017, the 5-foot-11, 200-pound cornerback started all 14 games, leading the nation and setting a school record with 21 passes defensed, adding 35 tackles (26). Nelson also returned 24 punts for 206 yards (8.6 avg.) with one touchdown.

Oakland Raiders Sign Fifth-Round Pick P Johnny Townsend

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed fifth-round draft pick P Johnny Townsend, the club announced Monday.

Townsend was selected 173rd overall by the Raiders in the 2018 NFL Draft. He played in 44 games over his four-year career at Florida, totaling 240 punts for 11,090 yards (46.2 avg.) with 90 punts placed inside the opponents’ 20-yard line. Townsend finished his collegiate career as Florida’s all-time leading punter in yards and punts, and ranks first in SEC history in career punting average.

As a senior, the native of Orlando, Fla., was named a consensus second-team All-American after appearing in 11 games and leading the nation for the second straight year with 3,043 punting yards on 64 punts (47.5 avg.).

Oakland Raiders Sign LB Emmanuel Lamur

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed unrestricted free agentLB Emmanuel Lamur, the club announced Wednesday.

Lamur joins the Raiders for his seventh NFL season, having spent his first six years with the Minnesota Vikings and Cincinnati Bengals. Over his six-year career, Lamur has played in 71 games with 15 starts and posted 90 tackles (64 solo), 0.5 sacks, two interceptions, 12 passes defensed, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. In four postseason games, he has recorded eight tackles (one).

Last season, the 6-foot-4, 245-pound linebacker appeared in all 16 games for the Vikings and made eight tackles (six), recorded one pass defensed and one fumble recovery. Lamur was also a leader on the special teams unit and contributed with four stops.

A native of West Palm Beach, Fla., Lamur played in 37 games in three seasons (2009-11) for Kansas State during his collegiate career, after spending the 2008 season at Independence Community College. He totaled 197 stops (114), 2.0 sacks, 10 tackles for loss and five interceptions during his time with the Wildcats.

Oakland Raiders Acquire Fifth-Round Selection, Trade Olawale

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have acquired a fifth-round selection (173rd overall) in the 2018 NFL Draft via a trade with the Dallas Cowboys, the club announced Tuesday. As part of the trade terms, the Raiders will receive the 173rd overall selection (a Dallas compensatory pick) in the 2018 Draft in exchange for FB/RB Jamize Olawale and Oakland’s selection in the sixth round (192nd overall). The 192nd overall selection originally belonged to the Seattle Seahawks and was acquired by the Raiders as part of the trade for Marshawn Lynch on April 26, 2017.

Olawale joined the Raiders in 2012 and has played in 77 games for the club over the last six seasons. For his career, he has totaled 55 rushing attempts for 206 yards with four touchdowns, and 39 receptions for 425 yards and three touchdowns.

Additionally, the Raiders have waived LS Bradley Northnagel.

Oakland Raiders Acquire Fifth-Round Selection, Trade Patterson

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have acquired a fifth-round selection (159th overall) in the 2018 NFL Draft via a trade with the New England Patriots, the club announced Monday. As part of the trade terms, the Raiders will receive the 159th overall selection in the 2018 Draft in exchange for WR Cordarrelle Patterson and Oakland’s first compensatory selection in the sixth round (210th overall).

Patterson appeared in all 16 games for the Raiders last season, recording 31 receptions for 309 yards and 13 rushes for 121 yards and two touchdowns. As a returner, he totaled 19 kickoff returns for 538 yards, and his 28.3 yards per return led the NFL. For his career, Patterson played in 80 games over five seasons with the Raiders and Minnesota Vikings.
