Oakland Raiders Activate CB Isaiah Johnson

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have activated CB Isaiah Johnson to the 53-man roster, the club announced Monday.

Johnson was selected 129th overall by the Raiders in the 2019 NFL Draft. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound corner spent the first eight weeks of his rookie campaign on Reserve/Injured List after appearing in one game during the preseason.

Johnson was a four-year letterman at Houston, appearing in 45 games at Houston from 2015-18. After joining the Cougars as a wide receiver his freshman year, Johnson converted to cornerback following his sophomore season and appeared in 23 games and made 15 starts over his final two seasons, totaling 115 tackles (88 solo), four interceptions and 16 passes defensed.

In a corresponding move, the Raiders have released LB Brandon Marshall.

Oakland Raiders Sign Burris; Place Abram on IR

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed free agent DB Juston Burris, the club announced Friday.

Burris joins the Raiders for his first season with the club after originally being selected in the fourth round (118th overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft by the New York Jets. Burris appeared in 34 games with the Jets before being waived in 2018 and joining the Cleveland Browns from the Jets’ practice squad. Over his first three seasons with the two clubs, Burris has appeared in 38 games with two starts, recorded 28 tackles (27 solo), two interceptions, seven passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

Last season, the 6-foot, 212-pound defensive back appeared in eight games, four with the Jets and four with the Browns, appearing primarily on special teams and recording two tackles on the unit.

In a corresponding move, the Raiders have placed S Johnathan Abram on the Reserve/Injured List.

Abram was selected 27th overall by the Raiders in the 2019 NFL Draft. He started in his first NFL contest in the Week 1 victory and recorded five tackles (one) and logged one pass defensed. Abram played two years at Mississippi State before joining the Silver and Black, appearing in 26 contests and making 18 starts, compiling 170 tackles, including 14 for loss, five sacks, two interceptions, 10 passes defensed, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery during his time with the program.

Oakland Raiders Sign First-Round Pick RB Josh Jacobs

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed first-round draft pick RB Josh Jacobs, the club announced Tuesday.

Jacobs, a 5-foot-10, 219-pound running back, was selected 24th overall by the Raiders in the 2019 NFL Draft. An elusive, hard-running ball carrier, Jacobs appeared in 42 contests during his time at Alabama (2016-18), helping the Crimson Tide capture the 2017 National Championship and earning Most Valuable Player honors in the contest. He totaled 251 carried for 1,491 yards (5.9 avg.) and added 16 scores, while tallying 48 receptions for 571 yards and one receiving touchdown. Jacobs was also an impressive returner, taking 19 kickoffs back for 514 yards, including one for a touchdown. His 28.6-yard kickoff return average ranks third in school annals.

In 2018, he totaled 15 scores, including 11 rushing, three receiving and one on special teams. His 11 rushing scores tied for seventh among the SEC and ranked third in the FBS among players with 120-or-fewer rushing attempts. He also tied for the team lead with 1,315 all-purpose yards on the season and tallied a 30.6-yard kickoff return average, the second-best single-season mark in Alabama history. Jacobs, a native of Tulsa, Okla., was also recognized by team coaches as a six-time Offensive Player of the Week and three-time Special Teams Player of the Week over his collegiate career.

Oakland Raiders Sign First-Round Pick S Johnathan Abram

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed first-round draft pick S Johnathan Abram, the club announced Tuesday.

Abram was selected 27th overall by the Raiders in the 2019 NFL Draft. Abram, a hard-hitting, instinctive safety who played two years at Mississippi State, appeared in 26 contests and made 18 starts, compiling 170 tackles, including 14 for loss, five sacks, two interceptions, 10 passes defensed, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery during his time with the program. The 6-foot, 205-pound safety also spent one year at Jones County Junior College after playing for Georgia during his freshman year in 2015.

In 2018, he earned six All-American honors, including second-team recognition from The Athletic, Sports Illustrated, CBS Sports and American Football Coaches Associated, while earning a third-team honor from the Associated Press and Phil Steele. He posted a team-leading 99 tackles as a senior, tops among SEC defensive backs, while adding three sacks, two interceptions, five passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

Oakland Raiders Sign Second-Round Pick CB Trayvon Mullen

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed second-round draft pick CB Trayvon Mullen, the club announced Tuesday.

Mullen was selected 40th overall by the Raiders in the 2019 NFL Draft. Mullen appeared in 41 games and made 26 starts during his career at Clemson, totaling 93 tackles (68 solo), 4.5 tackles for loss, four interceptions, one forced fumble and 12 passes defensed. He was named second-team All-American by ACFA and second-team All-ACC in 2018 while earning All-ACC Honorable Mention in 2017. 

A native of Fort Lauderdale, FL., Mullen logged 37 tackles (30), two sacks, one interception and four passes defensed in 15 games as a junior in 2018. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound cornerback earned Defensive MVP Honors after posting a season-high six tackles, one interception, one sack and one forced fumble in a win against Alabama in the College Football Playoff National Championship.

Oakland Raiders Sign First-Round Pick DE Clelin Ferrell

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed first-round draft pick DE Clelin Ferrell, the club announced Tuesday.

Ferrell was selected fourth overall by the Raiders in the 2019 NFL Draft. A prolific three-year starter at Clemson, Ferrell started in all 44 appearances and helped the school capture two National Championships in 2016 and 2018. Over his career, he totaled 166 tackles, including 50 for loss, 27 sacks, seven passes defensed, five forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

Ferrell’s career sack total ranked tied for fourth in Tigers history, and he left Clemson as just the second player in school history to tally two first-team All-American honors from the Associated Press. He also became just the third player in Clemson history to earn the first-team honor as either a freshman or sophomore.

As a senior in 2018, Ferrell won the Ted Hendrick’s Award, given to the nation’s top defensive end. He recorded 55 tackles, including 20 for loss, 11.5 sacks, four passes defensed, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries, including one returned for a TD, en route to a consensus first-team All-American selection, first-team All-ACC honor while also being named ACC Defensive Player of the Year.

A native of Richmond, Va., the 6-foot-4, 267-pound defensive end played at Benedictine College Preparatory prior to entering the college ranks. He was ranked the No. 136th player in the nation by ESPN.com and was invited to the Under Armour All-American game following his senior year in 2014.

Oakland Raiders Sign Fourth-Round Pick DE Maxx Crosby

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed fourth-round draft pick DE Maxx Crosby, the club announced Thursday.

Crosby was selected with the 106th overall pick by the Raiders in the 2019 NFL Draft. A 6-foot-5, 255-pound defensive end, Crosby appeared in 37 contests during his career with Eastern Michigan, starting in all 24 games in his final two seasons with the school. Over his career, he totaled 162 tackles (73 solo), including 41 for loss, 20 sacks, one interception returned for a touchdown, four passes defensed, eight forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries. Crosby’s tackles for loss and sack total over his career both rank second in Eastern Michigan lore.

As a senior in 2018, he notched an All-MAC First Team honor, becoming just the third defensive player in school history to garner the accolade in consecutive seasons and just the fourth Eagle defender overall to earn the honor twice over their career. He started all 12 contests last season, compiling 70 stops (31), including 19 for loss, 7.5 sacks, one interception returned for a score, three passes defensed, four forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. A native of Colleyville, Texas, Crosby’s 1.6 tackles for loss per game ranked as the seventh-best mark in the nation during his final campaign.

Johnson was selected 129th overall by the Raiders in the 2019 NFL Draft. He was a four-year letterman at Houston, appearing in 45 games at Houston from 2015-18. After joining the Cougars as a wide receiver his freshman year, Johnson converted to cornerback following his sophomore season and appeared in 23 games and made 15 starts over his final two seasons, totaling 115 tackles (88 solo), four interceptions and 16 passes defensed.

In 2018, the 6-foot-2, 208-pounder started 10 games, totaling 66 tackles (50), two interceptions and a team-leading seven passes defensed. Before converting to cornerback, the native of Bryan, Texas, played in 22 contests and totaled 21 receptions for 208 yards (9.9 avg.) over his first two seasons as a wide receiver with the squad.

Oakland Raiders Sign Fifth-Round Pick WR Hunter Renfrow

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed fifth-round draft pick WR Hunter Renfrow, the club announced Thursday.

Renfrow was selected 149th overall by the Raiders in the 2019 NFL Draft. He appeared in 55 games and made 47 starts for Clemson, totaling 186 receptions for 2,133 yards with 15 touchdowns. A two-time third-team All-ACC selection (2017-18), the 5-foot-10, 184-pound wide receiver left Clemson with school records for starts by a receiver (47) and consecutive games with a reception (43), while also holding the College Football Playoff record with 37 receptions and four touchdowns in seven career CFP games en route to two National Championships in 2016 and 2018.

A native of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Renfrow finished his collegiate career ranked fifth in school history in receptions (186) and 11th in receiving yards (2,133). He was named the winner of the Burlsworth Trophy, an honor given to college football’s most outstanding player who began his career as a walk-on, while also winning the Bobby Bowden Award, an accolade awarded to the Division I player who most epitomizes dedication to faith, family, friends and football. In 2018, he started all 15 contests and recorded 49 receptions for 544 yards with one score.

Oakland Raiders Sign Fourth-Round Pick TE Foster Moreau

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed fourth-round draft pick TE Foster Moreau, the club announced Thursday.

Moreau was selected with the 137th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft by the Raiders. At 6-foot-4, 253 pounds, the tight end played four years at LSU from 2015-18, appearing in 49 games with 32 starts, and compiling 52 receptions for 629 yards and adding six touchdown receptions. He left the Tigers starting in the final 26 contests of his career and ranking seventh in school history for most receptions by a tight end, while his career receiving scores ranked fourth.

A native of New Orleans, La., Moreau was named a permanent team captain during his senior campaign in 2018. He started in all 13 contests and tallied 22 receptions for 272 yards while tacking on two touchdown receptions.
