Oakland Raiders Sign WR De’Mornay Pierson-El

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed free agent WR De’Mornay Pierson-El, the club announced Monday.

Pierson-El enters his first season with the Raiders, having most recently been with the Salt Lake Stallions in the American Alliance Football league. Before joining the AAF, Pierson-El spent time with the Washington Redskins after being signed by the club as an undrafted free agent following the 2018 NFL Draft, and also had a short stint with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League

In his short stint with the Stallions, the 5-foot-9, 195-pound wide receiver recorded 36 receptions for 414 yards (11.5 avg.) and one touchdown. Pierson-El’s receptions and receiving yards both led the team through eight contests. 

A native of Alexandria, Va., Pierson-El played four seasons (2014-17) at Nebraska. He appeared in 43 games and recorded 100 receptions for 1,309 yards (13.1 avg.) and added 11 touchdown receptions, while also rushing 26 times for 67 yards. As a senior in 2014, Pierson-El recorded career highs across the board, tallying 45 receptions for 623 yards and five touchdown receptions. His receptions and receiving yards both finished third on the team while his five receiving scores ranked second.

Oakland Raiders Sign DE Alex Barrett

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed free agent DE Alex Barrett, the club announced Friday.

Barrett enters his first season with the Raiders having most recently been with the San Diego Fleet in the American Alliance Football league. Before joining the AAF, Barrett spent the majority of the 2017 and 2018 campaigns on the Detroit Lions’ practice squad, while also appearing in a total of two contests and recording one tackle.

In his short stint with the Fleet, the 6-foot-3, 260-pound defensive end recorded 15 tackles and added two sacks in eight contests. 

A native of Mesa, Ariz., Barrett played four seasons (2013-16) at San Diego State. He appeared in 50 games and recorded 19 sacks, tied for fourth-most in school history. Barrett also tallied 170 tackles over his career and finished seventh on the school’s all-time tackles for loss list with 40. As a senior in 2016, he made 14 starts and notched 54 stops (29 solo), posting team highs with 7.5 sacks, 13 tackles for loss and four passes defensed.
