Oakland Raiders Announce Transactions

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed free agents LB Will Compton, C Erik Magnusonand DT Terrell McClain, the club announced Wednesday.

Compton: Has appeared in 68 games and made 35 starts over his seven years in the NFL, seeing game action with both the Washington Redskins (2014-17) and the Tennessee Titans (2018) and totaling 274 tackles (163 solo), one sack, three INTs, 12 passes defensed, two forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries…Posted career highs in 2016 with the Redskins in tackles (104 solo), passes defensed (five) and fumble recoveries (two), while also adding one forced fumble and one INT.

Magnuson: Has appeared in eight games and made three starts over his first two seasons in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers after originally being signed as an undrafted free agent in 2017…Spent the first eight weeks of 2019 on the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad…Appeared in 46 games and made 37 starts along the offensive line during his five-year career at Michigan…Earned First Team All-Big 10 honors in 2016 after starting all 12 games as a senior. 

McClain: Originally drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the third round (65th overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft and also made stints with New England Patriots (2012), Houston Texans (2012-13), Dallas Cowboys (2014-16), Washington Redskins (2017, Atlanta Falcons (2018), while most recently playing in two contests for the Kansas City Chiefs this year…Over his nine-year career, has appeared in 89 contests and made 34 starts, totaling 129 tackles (85 solo), 7.5 sacks, three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.

In corresponding moves, the Raiders have waived LB Dakota Allen and released DE Kasim Edebali andDT Corey Liuget.

Oakland Raiders Announce Practice Squad

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed the following 10 players to their practice squad, the club announced Monday. RB Damarea CrockettLB Justin Phillips and TE Eric Saubert are the only practice squad signees that were not with the team during training camp this year.

Crockett: Originally signed by the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent this past May…Played three seasons (2016-18) at Missouri, appearing in 29 games over his career…Recorded 2,252 rushing yards and 19 TDs on 380 rushing attempts, adding 137 receiving yards and two additional scores…Posted 709 rushing yards and seven TDs on 147 carries as a senior, adding 12 receptions for 88 yards and a receiving TD.

Phillips: Originally signed by the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent this past offseason…Spent five years (2014-18) at Oklahoma State, playing four seasons and appearing in 42 contests, compiling 221 tackles (146 solo), including 23 for loss, 6.5 sacks, three INTs including two returned for TDs, six passes defensed, six forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries…Was a team captain and team MVP as a senior, earning All-Big 12 recognition after posting 98 tackles as a senior.

Saubert: Originally selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the fifth round (174th overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft…Spent his first two seasons with the Falcons, appearing in 30 contests and making one start, compiling five receptions for 48 yards…Appeared in all 16 contests in 2018 for the first time in his career.

Oakland Raiders Re-Sign DE Josh Mauro And LB Kyle Wilber; Place Johnson And Peterman On IR

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have re-signed free agents DE Josh Mauro and LB Kyle Wilber, the club announced Monday.

Mauro rejoins the Raiders after originally signing with the team this past March and spending the offseason program and training camp with the club. A 6-foot-6, 290-pound defensive end, Mauro spent his first four seasons (2014-17) with the Arizona Cardinals prior to his one-year stint with the New York Giants in 2018. In his first five seasons, Mauro appeared in 59 contests and made 30 starts, compiling 102 tackles (72 solo), three sacks, four passes defensed, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. In three postseason contests, including two starts, Mauro has totaled three stops (two).

Wilber rejoins the team after originally signing with the team as an unrestricted free agent in 2018. Now entering his eighth season in the NFL, the 6-foot-4, 240-pound linebacker spent his first six years (2012-17) with the Dallas Cowboys after being selected by the club in the fourth round (113th overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft. Wilber has appeared in 103 games and made 16 starts over his career, compiling 98 tackles (66), 3.5 sacks, two passes defensed, three forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries. Wilber has also tallied two tackles (one), one interception and one pass defensed in three postseason contests.

In corresponding moves, the Raiders have placed CB Isaiah Johnson and QB Nathan Peterman on the Reserve/Injured List.

Oakland Raiders Sign DE Benson Mayowa

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed unrestricted free agent DE Benson Mayowa, the club announced Tuesday.

Mayowa re-joins the Raiders, having previously spent two seasons (2014-15) with the club, after most recently playing for the Arizona Cardinals during the 2018 campaign. Originally an undrafted free agent out of Idaho, Mayowa also made stints with the Seattle Seahawks (2013) and Dallas Cowboys (2016-17). Over his six-year career, he has appeared in 72 contests and made 15 starts, totaling 110 tackles (68 solo), 13 sacks, five passes defensed, three forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries.

Last season, the 6-foot-3, 265-pound defensive end registered career highs in both tackles (38) and passes defensed (four). He also added 13 tackles for loss, four sacks, one forced fumble and one fumbles recovery in 15 appearances for the Cardinals. He recorded seven sacks over two seasons with the Cowboys, including a career-high six in 2016. With the Raiders, he appeared in 28 games, tallying a combined 32 stops, two sacks, one pass defensed, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.

A native of Inglewood, Calif., Mayowa played four seasons (2009-12) for the Vandals, appearing in 46 games and making 14 starts. He compiled 67 tackles (47) during his collegiate career, adding 11 sacks, 11 forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.

Oakland Raiders Re-Sign WR/RS Dwayne Harris

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have re-signed unrestricted free agent WR/RS Dwayne Harris, the club announced Monday.

Harris, originally drafted in the sixth round (176th overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys, joined the Raiders in 2018 after spending the previous three seasons (2015-17) with the New York Giants. For his career, Harris has played in 103 games and made 11 starts. As a returner, he has totaled 159 kickoff returns for 4,055 yards (25.5 avg.) and one touchdown in addition to 177 punt returns for 1,805 (10.2 avg.) and four scores. On offense, Harris has posted 76 receptions for 867 yards and eight touchdowns. 

Last season, the 5-foot-11, 206-pounder took home two AFC Special Teams Player of the Week Awards with the Silver and Black after appearing in 15 contests and making one start. Harris averaged 14.1 yards per punt return, the second-best single-season mark in franchise history, as he also tied for the NFL lead. He also returned a punt 99 yards for a touchdown, tied for the second-longest punt return in NFL history. Additionally, Harris finished 10th in the NFL with a 22.9-yard kickoff return average.

A native of Stone Mountain, Ga., Harris played in 50 games at East Carolina and was twice named to the All-Conference USA First Team. As a senior in 2010, he set a school record with 41 kickoff returns for 839 yards and added 222 yards on 19 punt returns.

Oakland Raiders Retain LB Jason Cabinda and Sign G Chaz Green

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have re-signed exclusive rights free agent LB Jason Cabinda and signed unrestricted free agent G Chaz Green, the club announced Friday.

Cabinda, a 6-foot-1, 243-pound linebacker signed by the club as an undrafted free agent following the 2018 NFL Draft, spent the first six contests of 2018 on the team’s practice squad before being elevated to the active roster on Oct. 18. He appeared in 10 contests and made three starts, tallying 21 tackles (14 solo) in his rookie campaign.

A native of Flemington, N.J., Cabinda played four years for at Penn State, seeing action in 43 games with 36 starts. Cabinda finished his career with the Nittany Lions ranked ninth on the school’s all-time list with 286 tackles (115 solo), adding six career sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, 11 passes defensed and one interception.

Green, a 6-foot-5, 318-pound guard and former third-round selection (91st overall) by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2015 NFL Draft, joined the Raiders in the middle of the 2018 campaign and appeared in four contests while making one start. Over his four seasons with the Dallas Cowboys (2015-17), New Orleans Saints (2018) and Raiders, Green has appeared in 22 contests and made seven starts.

A native Tampa, Fla., Green spent five years (2010-14) at Florida and appeared in 43 contests. As a senior, Green was voted a team captain by his peers and started in all 11 contests for the Gators.

Oakland Raiders Sign CB Bene Benwikere; Place Calhoun On IR

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed free agent CB Bene Benwikere, the club announced Wednesday.

A former fifth-round pick (148th overall) of the Carolina Panthers in the 2014 NFL Draft, Benwikere is now in his fifth season in the NFL, having made stops with the Dallas Cowboys (2017) and Arizona Cardinals (2018) after his first three seasons with the Panthers. Over his five-year career, the Fontana, Calif., native has appeared in 50 games and made 22 starts, recording 153 tackles (115 solo), 1.5 sacks, three interceptions, 25 passes defensed, three forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries.

Last season, the San Jose State alum appeared in 12 games with the Cowboys before signing with the Cardinals this past offseason. In 11 games this season, the 6-foot-, 195-cornerback compiled 49 tackles (37), one interception, four passes defensed and one forced fumble with the club.

In a corresponding move, the Raiders have placed LB Shilique Calhoun on the Reserve/Injured List. Originally a third-round (75th overall) selection by the club in the 2016 NFL Draft, Calhoun has appeared in 26 games over three seasons with the Silver and Black, totaling 23 stops (13) and 0.5 sacks. Calhoun appeared in seven games this season and recorded 12 tackles (six).

Oakland Raiders Sign DE Damontre’ Moore; Waive Brown

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed free agent DE Damontre’ Moore, the club announced Tuesday.

A former third-round pick (81st overall) of the New York Giants in the 2013 NFL Draft, Moore enters his second stint with the Raiders after spending a portion of the 2016 training camp with the Silver and Black. Over his five-year career, Moore has made stops with the Giants (2013-15), Miami Dolphins (2015), Seattle Seahawks (2016) and most recently the Dallas Cowboys (2017). Since entering the league, he has appeared in 52 contests, compiling 62 tackles ( 42 solo), 10 sacks, four passes defensed, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. 

Last season, the 6-foot-4, 260-pound defensive end out of Texas A&M appeared in three contests for the Cowboys and tallied three stops (two).

In a corresponding move, the Raiders have waived DE Fadol Brown. Brown was signed by the club as an undrafted free agent in 2017, spending his rookie campaign on the team’s practice squad. He appeared in eight contests in 2018, totaling 17 tackles (14) and one pass defensed.

Oakland Raiders Sign G Chaz Green and TE Darren Waller; Place Smith on IR

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed free agents G Chaz Green and TE Darren Waller, the club announced Tuesday.

Green, a 6-foot-5, 318-pound guard is a former third-round selection (91st overall) out of Florida by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2015 NFL Draft. Over his three seasons with the club, Green appeared in 18 contests and made six starts for the Cowboys. The Tampa, Fla., native most recently had a short stint on the New Orleans Saints’ practice squad but has not appeared in game action in 2018.

Waller, a 6-foot-6, 255-pound tight end out of Georgia Tech, was originally drafted in the sixth round (240th overall) by the Ravens in the 2015 NFL Draft as a wide receiver. Waller spent three seasons with the club, appearing in 18 contests and making four starts, while tallying 12 receptions for 103 yards and two touchdowns. A native of Landover, Md., Waller has spent the 2018 campaign on Baltimore’s practice squad. 

Additionally, the club has placed DE Jacquies Smith on the Reserve/Injured List. Smith signed as a free agent ahead of Week 10 and appeared in three contests for the Silver and Black this season.

Oakland Raiders Acquire First-Round Selection, Trade WR Amari Cooper

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have acquired a first-round selection in the 2019 NFL Draft via a trade with the Dallas Cowboys, the club announced Monday. As part of the trade terms, the Raiders have agreed to send the Cowboys WR Amari Cooper in exchange for the selection.

A first-round selection (fourth overall) by the Raiders in the 2015 NFL Draft, Cooper started in 47-of-52 career games for the club. Since joining the club, Cooper has tallied 225 receptions for 3,183 yards (14.1 avg.) and 19 touchdowns. A two-time Pro Bowler, Cooper became just the third player in NFL history to record 1,000 receiving yards and 70 receptions in each of his first two seasons (2015-16).

Last season, Cooper started in 12-of-14 contests and caught 48 passes for 680 yards (14.2 avg.), adding a career-high seven scores.
