Oakland Raiders Sign LB Kyle Wilber

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed unrestricted free agentLB Kyle Wilber, the club announced Saturday.

Wilber has spent the past six seasons as a member of the Dallas Cowboys after being drafted by the club in the fourth round (113th overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft.

With Dallas from 2012-17, Wilber played in 89 games with 16 starts, recording 104 tackles (69 solo), 3.5 sacks, one pass defensed, two forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries.

Last season, the 6-foot-4, 245-pounder appeared in all 16 games for the Cowboys, finishing with four tackles and adding 10 special teams stops.

A native of Apopka, Fla., Wilber played collegiately at Wake Forest from 2007-2011. During his time at Wake Forest, he appeared in 43 games, recording 195 tackles, 13.5 sacks, six forced fumble and four blocked kicks.

Oakland Raiders Sign FB Keith Smith

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed free agent FB Keith Smith, the club announced Thursday.

Smith joins the Raiders after spending four seasons with the Dallas Cowboys from 2014-17. He has played in 47 games over his career. Originally entering the league as an undrafted free agent with Dallas in 2014, Smith began his career as a linebacker for the Cowboys before moving to fullback in 2016. He appeared in 15 games at linebacker over his first two seasons in the NFL, recording six tackles (five solo). In his two years and 32 games as a fullback, he totaled eight receptions for 46 yards with two carries for five yards.

Last season, the 6-foot, 240-pounder appeared in all 16 games for the Cowboys for the second consecutive season, totaling five receptions for 26 yards (5.2 avg.).

A native of Covina, Calif., Smith played in 49 games with 45 starts as a four-year letterman at San Jose State from 2010-2013. Over his collegiate career, he totaled 476 tackles, five sacks, nine forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, 12 passes defensed and two interceptions and earned a selection to the All-Mountain West First Team as a senior.

Oakland Raiders Preseason Opponents Announced

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders’ preseason schedule will feature home games against the Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks, with road contests at the Arizona Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys, the National Football League announced Monday.

The Raiders will open the preseason at the Arizona Cardinals for the second consecutive season. It will be the third straight year playing the Cardinals, as Arizona traveled to Oakland in 2015 before last year’s game in Arizona. The Raiders’ second game will be a home contest against the Los Angeles Rams, marking the first game between the two teams since the Rams moved back to Los Angeles.

 The Silver and Black will then play on the road for their third preseason game, travelling to Dallas in the preseason for the first time since 2010. Oakland will finish up its preseason slate against the Seattle Seahawks for the 12th straight season. Eight of those 12 games to close the preseason have come in Seattle, but this is the third time in four years – and second consecutive season – that the Raiders will host the Seahawks in Oakland.

All games will be broadcast locally on the Raiders radio flagship, 95.7 The GAME, and its affiliate stations.

Preseason times and specific dates will be announced at a later date.

Oakland Raiders Re-Sign LS Jon Condo

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have re-signed LS Jon Condo, the club announced Monday.

Condo will return to the Raiders for his 11th season in 2017 after serving as the team’s long snapper since 2007. He originally joined the team’s practice squad in 2006 after stops with the Dallas Cowboys and the New England Patriots. Condo has played in 160 games over his career.

The 6-foot-3, 240-pounder has handled the majority of the long-snapping duties for the Raiders over the past 10 years, playing in 141 straight games from 2007-15 before a shoulder injury forced him to miss the final three games of 2015. Over his career, Condo has earned two trips to the Pro Bowl, coming in 2009 and 2011.

Last season, Condo played in all 16 games for the ninth time in his career, becoming the 19th player in franchise history to play in at least 155 games. He helped K Sebastian Janikowski to his fourth-highest single-season point total and P Marquette King earn Associated Press All-Pro Second Team honors.

The Philipsburg, Pa., native attended Maryland, where he appeared in 38 consecutive games and helped the Terrapins to three bowl game appearances.

Oakland Raiders Re-Sign WR Andre Holmes

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have re-signed WR Andre Holmes, the club announced Tuesday.

Holmes has appeared in 42 games with 18 starts over the last three seasons with the Raiders. He set career highs in 2014 with 47 receptions and 693 receiving yards, which led the team. A key special teams contributor, he finished tied for second on the team last season with seven tackles, and also posted 14 receptions for 201 yards and four touchdowns.

For his career, the 6-foor-4, 210-pounder has totaled 88 receptions for 1,336 yards (15.2 average) and nine touchdowns in 49 career games.

Holmes, who was claimed via waivers from the New England Patriots in May 2013, played in seven games for the Dallas Cowboys in 2012, registering two catches for 11 yards. He was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Minnesota Vikings in 2011 before joining the Cowboys later that year.

A native of Elk Grove, Ill., Holmes is one of just six players in NFL history from Hillsdale College to play in an NFL. At Hillsdale, Holmes earned first-team all-conference honors all three years, and turned in one of the most productive seasons in school history, setting single-season school records for receptions (104) and receiving yards (1,368) as a senior in 2010.

Raiders Trade WR Brice Butler To Cowboys For Conditional Draft Pick

The Oakland Raiders traded Wide Receiver  Brice Butler to the Dallas Cowboys on Tuesday for a conditional 2016 draft pick.

If Butler is on 53-man roster for six games, the Raiders and the Cowboys Swap Dallas’ fifth-round pick for Oakland’s sixth-round pick.

Depending on how Dallas and Oakland finishes essentially the Raiders could be just moving up about 10-15 spots into the 5th round. Defining the trade the Raiders will have two fifth round pick one early one late and no sixth-round pick. That is if Butler is on Cowboys 53-man roster for six games.

The Cowboys will be without their star wide receiver Dez Bryant due to a broken bone in his foot. He is said to be out 6-8 weeks.

Butler was a seventh-round pick in 2013, and hung around despite being on the roster bubble since he got drafted. He played 25 games in his first two seasons, with two starts. All told, Butler had 30 catches for 383 yards and two touchdowns during his Raiders tenure.

Del Rio said in his weekly SiriusXM NFL Radio show that it allowed the Raiders to free up a roster spot to help other positions dealing with injury.

Raiders Claim Ex-Cowboys Defensive End Lavar Edwards

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have claimed Defensive End Lavar Edwards via waivers from the Dallas Cowboys, the club announced Monday.

Edwards was originally drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the fifth round (142nd overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft. He was traded to the Cowboys in Aug. 2014, where he spent a year before being waived yesterday.

For his career, the 6-foot-4, 275-pounder has played in 11 games with one start, totaling 11 tackles (seven solo) and three passes defensed.

Edwards played in 52 games over four seasons at LSU from 2009-12, posting 96 tackles, 10.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and two interceptions.

In a corresponding move, the Raiders have placed CB Chimdi Chekwa on the Reserve/Injured list.

Legends Announced As Project Manager For New Sacramento MLS Stadium

Nationally renowned firm will lead development of proposed downtown stadium for Sacramento Republic FC.

SACRAMENTO, Calif.Sac Soccer and Entertainment Holdings (SSEH) announced today, the hiring of Legends as project manager for the development of a new soccer-specific stadium in downtown Sacramento. SSEH is the parent company of USL franchise Sacramento Republic FC.

The announcement represents a significant step forward in ‘Operation Turnkey,’ an initiative launched by Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson and Republic FC Lead Investor Kevin Nagle to strengthen Sacramento’s bid for a Major League Soccer (MLS) expansion franchise. Plans for a new, privately-financed stadium are 100 percent on track, pending the award of MLS expansion rights to Sacramento, and can be ready to open as soon as the 2018 MLS season.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Legends to Operation Turnkey,” said Mayor Johnson. “Sacramento is laser-focused on bringing MLS to our community, and today’s news shows just how serious we are about putting the ball into the back of the net.”

Locally, Legends partnered in 2010 with the San Francisco 49ers to launch Levi’s Stadium and in 2014 with the Sacramento Kings on a groundbreaking food and beverage program for the upcoming Golden 1 Center. Both the York Family of the 49ers and Kings are key investors in Republic FC on the MLS-level..
