20-year-old forward comes to the United States after playing professionally in England.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sacramento Republic FC have agreed to a contract with forward Harry Williams for the 2016 USL season. Williams played most recently with Cheltenham Town FC, a National League club in Gloucestershire, England.
“Harry is a young player that fits into our development group,” said Republic FC Head Coach and Technical Director Paul Buckle. “Already, he has proven that he is capable of playing at our level. He holds the ball up very well and he can finish. He is a very good prospect for our club.”
Williams appeared in 14 matches with Cheltenham Town after joining the senior team in 2013. Williams began with Cheltenham Town Academy as an 8-year-old, progressing through the academy system and joining the first team at 17 years old.
The forward spent most of his time with Cheltenham Town on loan to other clubs. Williams had two loan stints with Farnborough FC, appearing in a combined 17 matches and scoring 10 goals. He also had two loan stints with Gloucester City AFC, appearing in a combined 16 matches and scoring seven goals. Williams was also loaned to Evesham United FC, appearing in 11 matches and scoring five goals.
