Sacramento River Cats Release Promotion Schedule For 2018 Season

23 fireworks shows, specialty jerseys, and two STAR WARS® Nights headline new promo calendar

West Sacramento, CA – The Sacramento River Cats are thrilled to announce the promotions schedule for the 2018 season, with the team’s home opener on Tuesday, April 10. The 2018 promotions schedule is loaded with premium giveaways, guest appearances, new theme nights, specialty jerseys, and much more.

Over the course of the team’s 70-game home schedule, the River Cats will host 23 fireworks shows – one for each Orange Friday and Sutter Health Saturday, plus another for the Independence Eve celebration. In addition, fans can look forward to three exciting giveaways, including a Madison Bumgarner Jersey T-Shirt (April 13), a River Cats jungle camo hat (May 25), and a Willie Mays bobblehead (July 27), plus appearances by two San Francisco Giants alumni.

The River Cats will wear six unique specialty jerseys this season. Farm to ForkNight presented by Raley’s (June 9) will feature a brand new jersey and theme which will continue to serve as a nod to the region’s agricultural and culinary prominence. Other specialty jerseys include a Mother’s Day pink jersey (May 13), a custom camouflage jersey for Salute to Armed Forces (May 26), a patriotic jersey for Independence Eve (July 3), and a “Cap City” jersey (August 25). STAR WARS® Night returns (July 14) with the final special themed jersey, but new for 2018 is a second STAR WARS® Night, which will take place Friday, August 24.

Brand new for the 2018 season will be the addition of Wet Nose Wednesdays to the Weekly Promotions Schedule. The River Cats will continue the success of the annual Bark in the Ballpark presented by Lagunitas, which will take place Sunday, April 15, and fans will now be able to bring their dogs to the ballpark for all Wednesday home games.

Orange Fridays return for the 2018 season. Fans are encouraged to break out their River Cats – or San Francisco Giants – orange and attend a pregame party featuring live music and drink specials before the team takes the field in orange Sactown jerseys. Orange Fridays will continue to feature postgame fireworks shows. Also returning are Cache Creek Baseball Bingo on Mondays, Toyota Family Value Tuesdays, Thirsty Thursdays, and K-LOVE Sunday Funday.

Additional highlights include a Salute to First Responders (April 28) featuring a specialty hat auction, Superhero Night (May 12), Green Awareness Night presented by Commerce Printing (May 24), Equality Night presented by Lasher’s Elk Grove Subaru (June 29), Princess & Pirate Night (July 28), and Fan Appreciation Night (August 30) among many others.

Single-game tickets go on sale during the River Cats annual Preseason Party on Sunday, March 4 at noon at the Round Table Pizza Ticket Office at Raley Field.

Two-Time World Champion Barry Zito To Return To Raley Field

Former Athletics and Giants pitcher to make an appearance for River Cats game on August 10

 West Sacramento, CA – Former Sacramento River Cats, Oakland Athletics, and San Francisco Giants pitcher Barry Zito will be at Raley Field on Friday, August 10, 2018 to sign autographs for fans and throw the ceremonial first pitch.

The River Cats will host a pregame VIP meet and greet with Zito, which will include those who have purchased a Giant Pack. He will also be available for autographs on the concourse after throwing out the first pitch.

Barry Zito began the 2000 season with the River Cats, the franchise’s first year in Sacramento, and made his Major League debut that same year with the Oakland Athletics. Zito spent seven seasons with the Athletics before signing with the San Francisco Giants after the 2006 season. Two World Championships highlighted his seven seasons with the Giants. Zito was a member of the Nashville (Triple-A Oakland) roster in 2015 and pitched six shutout innings at Raley Field during the team’s series against Sacramento that year.

The fan-favorite Giant Pack includes a Senate level seat for each of the 13 biggest River Cats games of 2018 and is available for just $299 (an $800 value). Fans who purchase the package are also guaranteed premium giveaway items for the 2018 season, including a limited edition Madison Bumgarner Sactown jersey t-shirt. Giant Pack buyers will also receive exclusive access to a presale for the 2018 exhibition game on March 24 at Raley Field between the Sacramento River Cats and the San Francisco Giants. Presale date has not yet been determined.

San Francisco Giants’ Ace Madison Bumgarner To Join Sacramento River Cats

Four-time All-Star, three-time World Champ expected to start rehab Friday, June 30

West Sacramento, CA Three-time World Champion Madison Bumgarner is expected join the Sacramento River Cats Friday, June 30 as he begins his Major League rehab assignment. The Giants’ ace is scheduled to start Friday night as the River Cats host the Fresno Grizzlies.

Bumgarner is rehabbing a left-shoulder strain, an injury he sustained in a dirt biking accident in April. Bumgarner most recently pitched for the Giants’ rookie-level Arizona team Sunday, throwing three no-hit innings. Before that, he threw two innings in a simulated game at the Giants’ Spring Training complex in Arizona.

The 27-year-old was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the first round (10th overall) of the MLB June Amateur Draft in 2007. He made his Major League debut on September 8, 2009 and was an important factor in the Giants 2010 Postseason run. Bumgarner made history during the 2014 Postseason, throwing a record-setting 52.2 innings, including a historic five-inning save in Game 7 to clinch the Championship for San Francisco.

Bumgarner’s rehab assignment in Sacramento is scheduled to begin this Friday, June 30 as the River Cats host the visiting Fresno Grizzlies at Raley Field. Sacramento River Cats, San Francisco Giants Exhibition Game Tickets On Sale March 6

Advance tickets available with purchase of various ticket packages

WEST SACRAMENTO, CA – The Sacramento River Cats are excited to announce the official on-sale date for tickets to the March 30 Exhibition Game between the River Cats and three-time World Champion San Francisco Giants. Tickets will go on sale to the public on Sunday, March 6 at the River Cats’ Preseason Party and official Ticket Office opening.

Sunday, March 6 is the official opening of the Raley Field Ticket Office as well as the River Cats’ Preseason Party. Fans are invited to Raley Field to enjoy a day at the park, including free ballpark snacks, clubhouse tours, batting practice, ticket/seat selection, and more.
March 30’s contest will be the first between the River Cats and Giants. The game will allow local fans an opportunity to see not just their favorite River Cats players, but also current members of the three-time World Champion San Francisco Giants. Three-time All-Star Buster Posey and World Series MVP Madison Bumgarner are expected to take the field alongside fan-favorite Hunter Pence and Gold Glove winner Brandon Crawford.
