Oakland Raiders Re-Sign LS Jon Condo

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have re-signed LS Jon Condo, the club announced Monday.

Condo will return to the Raiders for his 11th season in 2017 after serving as the team’s long snapper since 2007. He originally joined the team’s practice squad in 2006 after stops with the Dallas Cowboys and the New England Patriots. Condo has played in 160 games over his career.

The 6-foot-3, 240-pounder has handled the majority of the long-snapping duties for the Raiders over the past 10 years, playing in 141 straight games from 2007-15 before a shoulder injury forced him to miss the final three games of 2015. Over his career, Condo has earned two trips to the Pro Bowl, coming in 2009 and 2011.

Last season, Condo played in all 16 games for the ninth time in his career, becoming the 19th player in franchise history to play in at least 155 games. He helped K Sebastian Janikowski to his fourth-highest single-season point total and P Marquette King earn Associated Press All-Pro Second Team honors.

The Philipsburg, Pa., native attended Maryland, where he appeared in 38 consecutive games and helped the Terrapins to three bowl game appearances.

Oakland Raiders Sign P Marquette King To Long-Term Contract Extension

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed P Marquette King to a long-term contract extension, the club announced Monday.

Oakland originally signed the 6-foot, 195-pounder as an undrafted free agent in May 2012. After spending the 2012 season on the Reserve/Injured List, King has played in all 48 games for the Raiders over the last three seasons and has totaled 276 punts for 12,734 yards (46.1 gross average; 40.2 net average) with 94 punts downed inside the opponents’ 20-yard line.

Last season, King punted 83 times for 3,697 yards (44.5 gross average; 40.7 net average) and set a franchise record with 40 punts placed inside the opponents’ 20-yard line. His 40 punts downed inside the 20 ranked second in the NFL in 2015.

In 2014, King set single-season franchise records for punts (109) and punting yards (4,930). He also became the only punter since 1976 with at least 100 punts, at least 30 placed inside the 20-yard line and three-or-fewer touchbacks in a season. In his first full season in 2013, he led the NFL in gross punting with a 48.9 average.

King played four years at Fort Valley State, where he earned first-team Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors and was named the team’s Most Valuable Player as a senior. A native of Macon, Ga., King attended Rutland High School in his hometown.

Oakland Raiders Punter Marquette King Wins AFC Special Teams Player Of The Week

ALAMEDA, Calif.Oakland Raiders P Marquette King has been named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his Week 16 performance against the San Diego Chargers, the National Football League announced today.

This marks the first time in King’s career that he has been named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week. A Raider has now won the award 23 times, with King’s recognition being the first since K Sebastian Janikowski won it in 2012 after his Week 15 effort against the Kansas City Chiefs. In total, a Raiders player has won AFC Offensive, Defensive or Special Teams Player of the Week 82 times.

In last Thursday night’s win over the Chargers, King punted eight times for 400 yards (50.0 gross average; 49.8 net average) with a long of 65 in the Raiders’ 23-20 overtime victory over the San Diego Chargers. Six of his punts were downed inside San Diego’s 20-yard line. His 49.8 net average led the NFL in Week 16, and his six punts downed inside the 20-yard line ranked second. King pinned his 39th punt of the season inside the opponents’ 20-yard line (second in the NFL this year), setting a new single-season franchise record since the statistic became official in 1976.

This is the second time this season that Oakland has had a player win a Player of the Week Award, as DE Khalil Mack won the AFC Defensive Player of the Week for his Week 14 performance against the Denver Broncos. Additionally, S Charles Woodson was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Month for October.
