Oakland Raiders Sign DL Tank Carradine

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed unrestricted free agentDL Tank Carradine, the club announced Saturday.

Carradine has spent the past five seasons as a member of the San Francisco 49ers after being drafted by the club in the second round (40th overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft.

With San Francisco from 2013-17, Carradine played in 44 games with eight starts, recording 100 tackles (56 solo), 5.5 sacks and one forced fumble.

Last season, the 6-foot-4, 270-pounder appeared in eight games with seven starts for the 49ers, totaling 19 tackles and 1.5 sacks.

A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Carradine played collegiately at Florida State after spending two seasons at Butler Community College (Kansas). In his two seasons at Florida State, he appeared in 25 games with 11 starts and recorded 118 tackles, 16.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

Oakland Raiders Sign LB Kyle Wilber

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed unrestricted free agentLB Kyle Wilber, the club announced Saturday.

Wilber has spent the past six seasons as a member of the Dallas Cowboys after being drafted by the club in the fourth round (113th overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft.

With Dallas from 2012-17, Wilber played in 89 games with 16 starts, recording 104 tackles (69 solo), 3.5 sacks, one pass defensed, two forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries.

Last season, the 6-foot-4, 245-pounder appeared in all 16 games for the Cowboys, finishing with four tackles and adding 10 special teams stops.

A native of Apopka, Fla., Wilber played collegiately at Wake Forest from 2007-2011. During his time at Wake Forest, he appeared in 43 games, recording 195 tackles, 13.5 sacks, six forced fumble and four blocked kicks.

Oakland Raiders Sign CB Rashaan Melvin

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed unrestricted free agentCB Rashaan Melvin, the club announced Friday.

Melvin joins the Silver and Black for his sixth NFL season in 2018. After spending his first three years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Baltimore Ravens and New England Patriots, he joined the Indianapolis Colts in 2016 and was with Indianapolis for the past two years. Over his career, Melvin has played in 37 games with 21 starts, totaling 118 tackles (98 solo), three interceptions, 21 passes defensed, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.

Last season, the 6-foot-2, 196-pound cornerback started in all 10 appearances, totaling 36 tackles (30), three interceptions and 13 passes defensed.

A native of Waukegan, Ill., Melvin played in 41 games for Northern Illinois, making 27 starts and totaling 172 tackles (117), six interceptions, 35 passes defensed and one forced fumble. His 35 career passes defensed stand as the second-most in school history, while the 17 recorded during his senior year led the Mid-Atlantic Conference and set a single-season school record.

Oakland Raiders Sign LS Andrew DePaola

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed unrestricted free agentLS Andrew DePaola, the club announced Friday.

DePaola spent this past season as a member of the Chicago Bears after handling the long-snapping duties for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2014-16. He has played in 64 games over his four-year career.

Originally entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Buccaneers in 2012, DePaola earned the job as the team’s long snapper in 2014 and played in 48 games for Tampa Bay over the next three seasons, handling all long-snapping duties and recording eight special teams tackles.

Last season, the 6-foot-2, 230-pounder played in all 16 contests for Chicago, helping the Bears set a franchise record with a 47.0-yard gross punting average.

A native of Parkton, Md., DePaola played collegiately at Rutgers from 2005-09, appearing in 39 games over his career.

Oakland Raiders Sign S Marcus Gilchrist

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed unrestricted free agent S Marcus Gilchrist, the club announced Thursday.

Gilchrist signs with the Raiders after seven NFL seasons with the San Diego Chargers, New York Jets and Houston Texans. Over his career, Gilchrist has played in 107 games with 82 starts, totaling 426 tackles (330 solo), 11 interceptions, 33 passes defensed, four sacks, five forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. He began his career as a cornerback and shifted to safety during the 2013 season.

Last season, the 5-foot-10, 200-pounder appeared in all 16 games for the Texans, making 13 starts at safety and totaling 56 tackles, one interception, six passes defensed, one sack and one forced fumble. He set career highs in tackles (82), interceptions (three) and passes defensed (seven) as a member of the Jets in 2015.

A native of High Point, N.C., Gilchrist played four seasons (2007-10) at Clemson, appearing in 53 games, a number that is tied for a school record. He totaled 211 tackles over his career and was named an All-ACC honorable mention as a senior.

Oakland Raiders Re-Sign TE Lee Smith

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have re-signed free agent TE Lee Smith, the club announced Thursday.

Smith returns to the Raiders after playing the last three years for the team, having signed with Oakland in 2015. In his first three seasons with the Silver and Black, Smith appeared in 35 games with 25 starts, hauling in 26 receptions for 175 yards and one touchdown.

The 6-foot-6, 265-pounder was originally drafted by the New England Patriots in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL Draft before playing for the Buffalo Bills from 2011-14. Over his seven-year career, the primarily blocking tight end has played in 91 games with 62 starts and totaled 46 receptions for 319 yards with four touchdowns.

The Powell, Tenn., native played collegiately at Marshall, appearing in 48 games over four seasons and totaling 75 receptions for 791 yards.

Oakland Raiders Sign LB Tahir Whitehead

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed unrestricted free agentLB Tahir Whitehead, the club announced Thursday.

Whitehead joins the Raiders after spending his first six seasons with the Detroit Lions, who originally drafted him in the fifth round (138th overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft. He has played in 93 games, making 54 starts and has totaled 378 tackles (268 solo), three sacks, two forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries, four interceptions and 18 passes defensed.

In 2017, the 6-foot-2, 241-pounder started all 16 games for the first time in his career, and posted 110 stops, adding one sack, one interception four fumble recoveries and two passes defensed. His 110 tackles marked the second consecutive season both leading the team in stops and posting 100-plus tackles. Posting 132 tackles in 2016, he became just the 11th Lions defensive player to record 130-plus tackles in a single season since 1994.

A native of Newark, N.J., Whitehead played in 50 games over four seasons (2008-11) at Temple and totaled 163 tackles (107), seven sacks, seven forced fumbles, three fumbles recoveries, one interception and seven passes defensed.

Oakland Raiders Sign FB Keith Smith

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed free agent FB Keith Smith, the club announced Thursday.

Smith joins the Raiders after spending four seasons with the Dallas Cowboys from 2014-17. He has played in 47 games over his career. Originally entering the league as an undrafted free agent with Dallas in 2014, Smith began his career as a linebacker for the Cowboys before moving to fullback in 2016. He appeared in 15 games at linebacker over his first two seasons in the NFL, recording six tackles (five solo). In his two years and 32 games as a fullback, he totaled eight receptions for 46 yards with two carries for five yards.

Last season, the 6-foot, 240-pounder appeared in all 16 games for the Cowboys for the second consecutive season, totaling five receptions for 26 yards (5.2 avg.).

A native of Covina, Calif., Smith played in 49 games with 45 starts as a four-year letterman at San Jose State from 2010-2013. Over his collegiate career, he totaled 476 tackles, five sacks, nine forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, 12 passes defensed and two interceptions and earned a selection to the All-Mountain West First Team as a senior.

Oakland Raiders Statement On Passing Of Tom Benson

“The Raiders family was saddened to learn of the passing of New Orleans Saints owner Tom Benson. Oakland Raiders Sign WR Jordy Nelson

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed free agent WR Jordy Nelson, the club announced Thursday.

Nelson joins the Raiders after 10 seasons with the Green Bay Packers, helping Green Bay to eight postseason appearances and a Super Bowl title. The 2014 Pro Bowler joins the Raiders having appeared in 136 career games with 88 starts, totaling 550 receptions for 7,848 yards (14.3 avg.) and 69 touchdowns. In 13 career postseason games, Nelson has posted 54 catches for 668 yards and five touchdowns.

The 6-foot-3, 217-pounder leaves Green Bay as one of the top wide receivers in franchise history, ranking third in receptions, fifth in receiving yards and second in receiving touchdowns. He is also the franchise’s leader in postseason receptions.

Last season, Nelson recorded 53 receptions for 482 yards and six touchdowns. He set a single-season franchise record with 1,519 receiving yards in 2014, as he was selected to his first career Pro Bowl and earned second-team All-Pro honors from the Associated Press. He was also named the AP Comeback Player of the Year in 2016 after recording 97 receptions for 1,257 yards and 14 touchdowns.

A native of Manhattan, Kan., Nelson played in 36 games at Kansas State, posting 206 receptions for 2,822 yards and 20 touchdowns. He also posted the most prolific single season in Kansas State history with 122 receptions for 1,606 yards in 2007 on his way to earning consensus All-American honors.
